A word from the artist
The forest is my greatest teacher and one of my most frequent subjects. In “Living Forest” hair turns into treetops, because I believe nature really does live in us. What I love about painting is that I can show this bond without words – with green, light and a reflection in the water alone. I am inspired by old stories about nature spirits guarding trees and springs. I work in layers, using the technique of the old masters, so every leaf has its time. When I finish a painting like this, I feel as if I am coming back from a long walk in the woods.
