Fleeting Beauty
Two storks take flight, and behind them, in warm orange light, floats a woman with windswept hair. The movement of wings, feathers and strands of hair merges into one flowing gesture. It is a story about a moment that cannot be held – about beauty that exists only in motion.

A word from the artist

I love movement in painting – the way a still canvas can capture flight, wind and windswept hair. “Fleeting Beauty” grew out of my wonder at the storks that come back every year and leave every year. I am inspired by moments that can’t be held in any other way than with a brush. The warm orange light is, for me, the colour of late summer and farewells, but also of hope for return. I like it when the lines of feathers and strands of hair flow together as if they were one gesture. This painting reminds me to notice beauty before it flies away.
